Cranial

What exactly is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy, also known as CST, is a group of hands-on healing techniques in which practitioners use a gentle, healing touch on the bones, soft tissues and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the central nervous system.

The craniosacral system is made up of soft tissues and fluid, including the skull, and it supports the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain and the spine. Massaging the craniosacral system gently can help relax and release tension which causes pain, as well as promote overall health and wellness.

What is the procedure for craniosacral therapy?

The craniosacral tissues can tighten or constrict as a result of stress, tension or injury. This strains the central nervous system and interferes with proper body functioning, including the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Craniosacral therapists use their hands to gently diagnose and release tension and stress from the craniosacral tissues surrounding the skull and spine, thereby reducing the strain on the central nervous system.
