Stress

The effects of stress on us

Chemical, emotional and physical stress are the three basic types of stresses that may affect our body.

Stress overload raises your risk factors for illness and disease, which include cardiovascular disease, and a weakened immune system. We actively encourage a healthier lifestyle at Back Care Chiropractic by first recognising the stressors and then taking steps to help you reduce exposure to them.

Emotional Tension

A little easier to understand and, regrettably, often seen by many as a normal condition, is emotional stress. Work, relationships, family and city life may all be significant stressors which can have a significant impact on our bodies’ capacity to function properly.

Mental Tension

Over thinking is often a companion of sleepless nights or disturbed sleep. Sleep is really important as it is the time when our bodies heal and unwind.

Physical Tension

Physical tension does not always result in a serious event like an accident or strain. Sitting down for extended periods of time can be one of the worst things we can do to our bodies. Long periods of sitting can gradually change your back muscles, causing your spine to go out of alignment and your central nervous system to become disrupted. Additional physical strains include routine bending and lifting, a full-time sporting programme or lifting for the family (such as bending and chasing little ones).

Chemical Tension

Chemical stress refers to a chemical imbalance in the body that impairs its capacity to function properly. Chemical stress is primarily brought on by internal factors (such as nutrition, smoking, drinking too much alcohol and using needless prescription or over-the-counter medications) or external factors (environmental pollution, chemicals in cleaning products).

How We Can Assist You?

Your central nervous system may be balanced naturally and healthily with chiropractic adjustments, allowing your body to heal more quickly and more effectively deal with life’s challenges. Eliminating spinal misalignments can also help your body get back to a balanced and calm condition by reducing muscular tension, enhancing circulation and relieving pain.

Dr Abie will work with you to try and find ways to lessen the stress in your life so that you can become calmer, happier and more productive, in addition to focusing on the physical effects of stress.
